I did it!

Yay!!  I completed my 5K on Saturday.  What a rush it was!  I woke up at about 4:55 am. I had my alarm set for 5:10 but I guess my internal clock woke me up a few minutes early. Thank goodness too because when I later look at my phone (which is where I set my alarm for the mornings) I set it for the M-F mornings and not Sat.  So I got up got dressed, ate a Luna Protein bar and was on my way.  I went to pick up my race packet on Thursday night and the lady that I got it from said to be sure I got to the race early because parking would be going fast. Since I wasn't familiar with the area I definitely wanted to get there early so I could find my way around and be sure I found the correct parking.  Well, when I arrived I was pretty much the only soul around. I got there around 6:00 am (the race started at 7:30).  They were just about to set up the tents.  I waited until I saw some more people and got out of my car to look and walk around. By 6:35 or so I couldn't take the cold anymore so I went and got back in my car and turned on the heat..Brr!.  I got back out around 7:00 and stood in line to use the Porta-Potty.(gross!)  At about 7:15 we all got in bundle and stood at the starting line. Then the horn sounded and we were off.  I started off pretty good. It took a few minutes to really get enough room to start to run. The first little bit was down a hill which was sweeet.  The first mile went by so fast. I didn't see the mile marker for the second mile but I just kept on running.  My father-in-law, mother-in-law, and by baby girl came to watch me. They were right before a turn and Bry was standing on a rock cheering.  It was the cutest thing EVER!  She had been cheering all the runners on and epically the doggies. They were her favorite. Seeing her gave me a little boost. I waved hello and blew her some kisses and continued on to finish it out. The last 1/2 mile was up an incline...ouch! I was so excited when I finished. Just to complete something that I have always wanted to do was amazing.  I have already signed up for my next one. It is the Jingle Bell Jog. It is another 5K.  I finished the 3.1 miles in about 37 minutes. I forgot the second amount.   Call me Crazy (and it won't be the first time) but I think I may start training for a half marathon.  I found a 8 week training guide online which looks pretty good. We'll see. Maybe that will be my goal for next year.
So that was pretty much  my weekend in a nut shell. I will try to get a few pics that my mother in law took and post them.

My good and bad weekend

This weekend I totally blew it in regards to my clean eating. Blah! I always feel like crap for doing it afterwards but I still eat just what ever at times.  It is mostly on the weekends too. I do great during the week.  It started Friday night when I ate my husbands left over fried rice from OEC. Then Saturday we went to a Mexican restaurant. I had my usual grilled chicken salad with a side of Pico de gallo. It was yummy. But I also had the chips, salsa, and CHEESE DIP…GAH!  Then my sister and I stopped and got some Fro-yo from sweet tree. It was buy one get one ½ off so I just had to partake in this sale.  Then we went to a bonfire across the street from my house. It was a reception for my husband’s cousin. And OMG let me tell you….they had this Oreo dessert that was out of this world!!!  It was soooooo good.  I know it had to have been bad for me since it was that good.  I do not need that recipe.   Because I knew I had done so bad my sister and I went to the gym. Here is the only good thing I accomplished this weekend…I ran 4 miles in around 50 min. YAY!!!! I got to my 3.1 mark and I was like ok, today I want to go a little further so I’ll go to 3.5 miles. I got to 3.5 and I was like, “ok, I’m not dead, I haven’t thrown up, and I haven’t fainted. I’ll keep going” so I made to 4 whole miles. I was so happy. But boy did I get hot!  I was dripping with sweat and it looked like I had a sunburn because my face was so red but I did it!  And then Sunday came. I think it all started wrong when I didn’t get up for my early Sunday morning workout and I didn’t go to church. It went down hill from there.  I can definitely tell when I eat wrong. I had no energy what so ever.
So now it’s Monday and I started off to a good start. I got up at 5:30 am and ran 1.6 miles. I should’ve kept going but I didn’t. I don’t have an excuse either. I’ll try to do better tomorrow morning. At least I got up though. I usually just turn off my alarm and reset it to a later time.  I ate a larabar for breakfast and that’s all I’ve had so far.  (it’s 1:17pm) I guess because I ate so much over the weekend that I just haven’t gotten hungry yet. I made some Lentil chili yesterday so I will fix me a bowl when I get home. Its good though. It’s a nice filling chili.
I had my chili for lunch and for supper I had some left over fajitas. I decided to give running another try on the treadmill.  I was able to go 3.1miles in 36:45 and 4.0 miles in 47:38. In total I ran 4.25 miles.  This time I seriously almost died. Since it didn't kill me I know I will only get better and better.  Looking forward to my 5K this weekend.
I have been trying to pick a good day of the week to do my weigh ins. I am thinking Mondays are good. Maybe, since I know I will have to weight in I won't go so crazy over the weekends. This could bite me in the boo-tay later though. It's been a long day. Maybe tomorrow I will have some blog worthy photos to share.

Like mother, like daughter

Happy Thursday Yall!  For some today is their Friday, but sadly for me it is not.  Anywho, I think today went pretty good regarding my eating and exercising. I had a green monster with 1 cup spinach, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, one banana, and some ice cubes. Yum, still not old. I drank 1/2 cup of coffee.  Then for morning snack I tried a Luna Bar, white chocolate macadamia nut. It was very good.  Lunch was a spinach salad with almonds, cranberries, low fat feta cheese, and low fat raspberry vinaigrette.

It was good. I forgot my chicken though and didn't feel like going out anywhere to get any.  I ate 1/2 cup fro-yo when I came home on break. Supper I cooked fajitas with bell pepper, onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes all sauteed with fajita seasoning, grilled some chicken on the grill and then tossed the chicken in with the veggies and seasonings. It was really good.  I ate mine with no soft shell and a dab of sour cream.
Then for my workout I ran 3.16 miles in 40:12. I am trying to do my three miles at least every other day to get me ready by next Saturday.  I mentioned my running shoes in a previous post but my daughter just absolutely loves my new pink shoes. Sometimes she gets all upset when I put them on b/c she wants to wear them. Well today her Grandma Sweetie found her some of her very own pink running shoes. She wore them all day and even to nap. haha!  She is too funny. Tonight she didn't even whimper when I put my shoes on.
That's my girl!  :)

Did ya miss me??

I'm still here!! I did not fall off the face of the earth.  My Internet has been down and work has been crazy busy so I haven't been able to post. Sooooo I will just give you a quick update on what has been going on with me.
So I finally decided to sign up for my 5K. It's 12Ks for the holidays. They have a 5K run/walk which is what I am participating in.  It is November 19 which is in about 2 weeks so I am trying to run at least every other day to increase by endurance. I was able to run 3.40 miles in 50:03 and then I did it again and ran 3.20 miles in 40:40. Right now I'm not worried about my speed I just want to complete the 5K without having to stop and walk. After this then the next one I will try to increase by time.  I'm excite about it but now kinda bummed because my husband has to work.  I totally wanted him to be there. My sister is going out of town and she won't be here either.  Ahh! Last weekend I got some new shoes. They are my RUNN-IN SHOES (in my Forest Gump voice).  The are pink and purdy!
Like em?  They weren't too pricey.
So I am in the process of trying to develop my own strength training schedule.  I still can't seem to bring myself to do the p90X again yet, it is just so redundant and I dread it. I don't want to dread my workouts. I want to really enjoy them. So any tips are welcomed.
Last Monday was Halloween.  I had an alligator hunter on my hands. She had the gators under control.  Sunday night we went to a fall festival at our church and then she went Trick or treating Monday night and racked up. She was so cute going up to the doors and saying, "Trit-treat". And then saying "thank you" 5 or 6 times after they gave her the candy. She is very polite. I did ok horribly when it came to the chocolate from Halloween. Trying to redeem myself this week. That's all I'll say about that.

Last night my sister and I went and ran after ball after ball after ball played tennis. It was really fun.  We did occasionally hit the ball back and forth a few times.  We may do it again Thursday night. So MJ if you are up for it again ..Holla!
MJ getting ready to serve :)
Me and my fabulous sister!!!

So today I didn't do so good on my eating and so so on my run.  Breakfast was some string cheese and turkey. I didn't feel like eating the normal breakfast food. Work was C.R.A.Z.Y.!!!!  So I had two cups of coffee and forgot snack. I ate lunch when I came home and had some egg drop soup and then supper was a spinach salad with cranberries, almonds, low fat feta cheese, grilled chicken and a little bit of balsamic vinaigrette dressing. It was delish!  Like a Newks salad.
Sorry for the flash. It was so good that I packed me one for lunch.
After supper we went to my Husband's grandmother's house and drew names for Christmas. Then I went for a run and ran 2.6 miles in about 30 min. stopped b/c I got a phone call and is was my sis! So of course I had to talk. :) Goodnight peeps!
