Yay!! I completed my 5K on Saturday. What a rush it was! I woke up at about 4:55 am. I had my alarm set for 5:10 but I guess my internal clock woke me up a few minutes early. Thank goodness too because when I later look at my phone (which is where I set my alarm for the mornings) I set it for the M-F mornings and not Sat. So I got up got dressed, ate a Luna Protein bar and was on my way. I went to pick up my race packet on Thursday night and the lady that I got it from said to be sure I got to the race early because parking would be going fast. Since I wasn't familiar with the area I definitely wanted to get there early so I could find my way around and be sure I found the correct parking. Well, when I arrived I was pretty much the only soul around. I got there around 6:00 am (the race started at 7:30). They were just about to set up the tents. I waited until I saw some more people and got out of my car to look and walk around. By 6:35 or so I couldn't take the cold anymore so I went and got back in my car and turned on the heat..Brr!. I got back out around 7:00 and stood in line to use the Porta-Potty.(gross!) At about 7:15 we all got in bundle and stood at the starting line. Then the horn sounded and we were off. I started off pretty good. It took a few minutes to really get enough room to start to run. The first little bit was down a hill which was sweeet. The first mile went by so fast. I didn't see the mile marker for the second mile but I just kept on running. My father-in-law, mother-in-law, and by baby girl came to watch me. They were right before a turn and Bry was standing on a rock cheering. It was the cutest thing EVER! She had been cheering all the runners on and epically the doggies. They were her favorite. Seeing her gave me a little boost. I waved hello and blew her some kisses and continued on to finish it out. The last 1/2 mile was up an incline...ouch! I was so excited when I finished. Just to complete something that I have always wanted to do was amazing. I have already signed up for my next one. It is the Jingle Bell Jog. It is another 5K. I finished the 3.1 miles in about 37 minutes. I forgot the second amount. Call me Crazy (and it won't be the first time) but I think I may start training for a half marathon. I found a 8 week training guide online which looks pretty good. We'll see. Maybe that will be my goal for next year.
So that was pretty much my weekend in a nut shell. I will try to get a few pics that my mother in law took and post them.
